Bicycle Plan
A bicycle plan is a business mobility solution offered by the employer. The employer can give you further information about the options. Does the employer have a bicycle plan? Then you can save money.
By 'bicycle' is meant, a bicycle, an electric bicycle, a leased bicycle and/or a pedelec. E-mobility products from GEORGE-E qualify as electric bicycles and as such fit into a bicycle plan.
The benefit of a bicycle plan (also called "company bicycle" or "leasing a bicycle") depends on your situation. The Tax Office distinguishes the following 4 situations:
1. The employee receives a bicycle from the employer that may also be used privately;
2. The employee receives a bicycle from the employer that may only be used for business purposes;
3. The employer lends the employee money to buy a bicycle;
4. The employee has his own bicycle and the employer reimburses the business mileage.

50% of employees are interested in a company bicycle. The bicycle is the most requested fringe benefit in the Netherlands. The lease bicycle is free of charge and outside the Working Costs Regulation (WKR).
Health: Reducing absenteeism
Cycling keeps employees healthy and reduces absenteeism by 25%. Of employees with a leased bicycle, 70% cycle more often and farther. Of employees with a lease bike, 60% report feeling fitter.
Cost: Cost-neutral for the employer
By offering a bike plan as an employer, employees enjoy a tax benefit of at least 25% and it costs the employer nothing. By saving on social charges, in many cases a cost-neutral employer contribution can be made from €20 per month per employee.

Leasing a bicycle on a business basis is 25% to 80% cheaper for employees than buying it privately. There is a saving of up to 20% on social security contributions, the same amount can be reinvested in the form of an employer contribution to the monthly lease costs.
